Sita's Ramayana accomplishes a rare thing: it brings a fresh perspective to a timeless epic. Told from the heroine Sita's point of view, this version draws on a little known, though long, tradition of female retellings of the well known saga. Two women from vastly different contexts – Patua scroll artist Moyna Chitrakar and young writer Samhita Arni – team up to tell this consummate story of women's fates. It is a startling collaboration: the images are brilliantly fast paced, moving the plot along, as the narrative tells a reflective, allusive tale.
